The item will be able to keep the same stats it had prior to upgrading however, it will also receive an additional benefit from its new base type. The bonus will be randomly selected from the following categories: a chance to obtain weapons with a higher damage range, a chance to obtain an increased reload speed or a chance to gain an increased defense roll.
The number of upgrades you make will determine the amount of extras you get. Each upgrade will increase the extras by a maximum of 3 points. Additionally, every upgrade will also increase the main stat by 1.
Some upgrades also provide an additional random boost in addition to stat boosts. These boosts are extremely beneficial and should be considered when choosing which items to upgrade. Certain boosts can only be used in specific builds (such the Whistan's Shield in FB Sorcs) Some are beneficial to collectors.
Certain items come with a built-in boos which is less beneficial when upgraded. For example the Goldwrap has an extra slots for potion. These are often upgraded to add value to a nearly perfect item.
Costs
There are a few costs related to upgrades of items. The first is the cost for the upgrade. This cost can be expensive and is contingent on the new ilvl of the item upgrading and the number of perks it receives. It can also be expensive to upgrade an item to a higher tier (such as Explorer > Champion or Veteran > Heroic).
The second is the cost of the materials needed for an upgrade. These items are usually Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons or specific Mists Of Pandaria or Warlords Of Draenor Quests. The amount of these materials required can be seen in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.
It takes time to upgrade an item. It could take as long as 8 hours depending on the size of the upgrade. The upgraded item's base stats are calculated by using the item's new ilvl bonus, perks, as well as other properties. This calculation determines the new Armor Class bonus, damage dice, as well as other important statistics. In some cases the upgrade will provide additional advantages that can be picked from a list of available perks.
In rare cases the upgrade will replace only the most expensive perks. The upgrader could also make other changes to the item, for example, changing its weapon damage type or removing an operative or unwieldy function. The cost for these modifications is determined by the item's current ilvl and it may require a special material like an adamantine alloy.
Success Rate
Item upgrades are based on a chance, and like any random system, there is a chance that the upgrade won't succeed. However, there are a few things that can increase the odds of success. This includes the use of an Upgrade Pity, or the addition of additional components to your upgrade.
The Upgrade Pity can be bought from the NPC for crafting in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of an upgrade succeeding by a certain percentage. It is similar to the "luck bonus" that some items offer, but it is more secure. It can be added to any armor or weapon and is able to be used up to three times.
You can also add additional materials to the upgrade to increase the chances of success. The materials are displayed in a separate window above the + button. However, there are some limitations to this, and the maximum amount of material that can be added is displayed just above the + button in the UI.
Another method to increase the chances of an upgrade succeeding is to use an item known as Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item can be helpful if your weapon or piece is close to or has reached the top level of its level. This Best item upgrading Upgrader (gpsites.win) will allow you upgrade the equipment to the next tier without risking its breaking.
If an upgrade fails it will be restored to its initial state. This is typically a downgrade, but could also be an upgrade. It is an excellent idea to save an upgrade for when you're near the maximum capacity of an item, and then use it as an emergency.
There are many items in the Kafra shop that can be used to increase the odds of an upgrade succeeding. For example, upgrading a piece of equipment using HD Oridecon or HD Elunium multiple times will provide you with an increased chance of success. Similarly, enhancing the chance to receive a Double Mint from Shoe-Minting a maximum of five times will also increase the success rate.
Failure Rate
The upgrader of an item allows players to add an additional slot to their equipment. These slots can be utilized to upgrade an item or apply an enchantment. It is important to remember that not all items can be upgraded. The rate of upgrade and enchantment is dependent on the item's rank. The higher the rank of an item is, the more Zeny items are required to upgrade it.
This system can be very expensive, particularly for high-end gear. Upgrades to armor and weapons can cost as much as 100,000 Z or 100 Carnium. As you advance in rank, your success rate decreases. However, you can utilize cash shop items to increase the chances of completing an upgrade successfully.

The upgrade window will show a percentage indication of your success chances. This percentage is determined by the upgrade level and type of the product you have selected.

The UI for the item upgrader can be confusing, but it is not difficult to navigate. The main menu is located on the left and the upgrade window is on the right. The arrows on the left side of the UI represent the different stages of the upgrade item process. Click the question mark icon to get assistance if you're not sure what you're doing.
