World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items can be used to boost the stats of a particular item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.

It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can look at the levels of the item. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it's capable of dealing with. The level of the Best item upgrade can be used to evaluate items when looking at the inventory of a vendor.

The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, including its value. It can also be located by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is calculated. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different values and that gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl which is usually close to the actual Blizzard level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the area the item was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Item stats can make or break an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications, which are themselves boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item upgrader. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers may be upgraded several times at higher costs.

Another method of altering the stats of an item is through affixes. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding a special name to the item.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item with specific stats or reroll the affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However, all items will have at least one stat in the range, unless they are an exclusive item or a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to enhance. As with the base equipment, this must be done per item upgrading and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the chance of finding items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players a possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in the early game than in later ones, because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading that increase with each item level. These can also be increased by using anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it does not work.

The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade item overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
