What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

Costs

This calculation determines the updated Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other important statistics. In some instances, the upgrade will grant additional perks that can be selected from a variety of benefits.
In rare instances the upgrade will only replace the highest-costing bonuses. Sometimes, the upgrader may make other adjustments to an item, like changing its weapon damage type or removing or adding an unwieldy or operative property. The cost for these changes is determined by the item's current ilvl and it could require a specific material, such as an adamantine alloy.
Success Rate
The process of upgrading an item is based on chance. Like any random system, there is a possibility that it will not succeed. However there are a few things which can improve the chances of success. This includes the use of an Upgrade Pity or adding additional components to your upgrade.
An Upgrade Pity is a product that you can purchase from the smithing NPC in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of a successful upgrade by some percentage. It's similar to the "luck bonus" that some items offer however it is more solid. It can be added to any weapons or armor and can be used three times.
You can also add additional components to the upgrade to increase the chance of success. These are shown in a window above the + button. There are some limitations. The maximum amount of material you can upload is shown directly above the + button.
A Blacksmith Blessing, or an upgraded version, can be used to boost the likelihood of an upgrade succeeding. This item is useful when you own an item or weapon equipment that is at the highest level for its tier, or is close to it. It allows you to upgrade that piece of gear to the next level without worrying about breaking.
If an upgrade is unsuccessful it will be restored to its initial state. This is typically a break, but it could also be a downgrade. Save an upgrade until you are nearing the highest level for an item.
Kafra offers a variety of products that can be utilized in order to increase the chance of an upgrade succeeding. For example upgrading an equipment with HD Oridecon or HD Elunium repeatedly will give you a higher chance of success.
