Buying a Pram Newborn
Prams and pushchairs are multi-functional, flexible partners of caregivers and parents. They are the co-pilots on the new journey of your child.
A pram newborn is designed for newborns and babies and has the most solid, sturdy carrycot with soft and safe walls.
A pram is typically equipped with a bassinet, but it can be transformed into an infant stroller seat once baby is ready.
Safety
Newborns are incredibly fragile and need to be kept as secure as is possible. Purchasing a stroller or pram bag with safety features will ensure that your baby is secure and secure during compact travel stroller. A stroller or pram must have a working break and a 5-point harness (2 shoulder straps and two waist straps and an e-crotch belt) and a wrist tether for the person pushing it. Make sure that the pram you choose meets these standards before you buy.
Find a stroller that allows your infant to ride in the recommended lie-flat position. This position helps support the baby and helps prevent a potentially dangerous curve in the spine which could cause spinal issues. It also reduces the chance of SUID (Sudden Unexpected Infant Death Syndrome) or asphyxiation by ensuring that the airways are clear. Most prams that can be used from birth will include a seat unit that will recline into a lie-flat pram position for younger babies and then convert into a pushchair seat unit for older children.
The suspension of a pram will determine how smooth it runs. A pram that has many spring suspensions will cost more however, it's worth the extra cost when you intend to use your pram each day for a few years or longer.
You should always be sure to go through the instruction manual and check the warning labels for your stroller or pram. When not using it, keep your stroller away from dangers like traffic, bicycles or other people. It is also important to remove any bags or other items from the handles, as they could cause your baby to get caught or choke.
A pram or stroller should not be left unattended with a baby inside even if they're asleep. They can wriggle and become trapped, or the pram may roll away and they could be injured. It's not recommended to hang bags or other things off the handles as they can fall and hit your baby's head.
Comfort
Having the option of lie flat seating is an absolute essential for infants as it promotes better back and lung development. A lot of prams come with a cocoon or carrycot that creates a cosy nest-like space for your baby and can be easily removed from the frame. Some seats, such as the bucket-style seat on egg2, can't be reclined completely flat, but provide the comfort of your child.
Some prams come with an additional bassinet or seat for the newborn. This lets you easily switch between sleeping and sitting positions depending on the requirements of your baby. This is often called a 'compact travel pram system and is the first thing you should do with your newborn.
Look for a pram with two shoulder straps (ideally with padding) and a five-point safety harness that fits your bub's body safely. Be sure there aren't gaps or loose areas where fingers could become trapped and that the buckles are simple to use - especially for older children. Also, consider whether you want an adult-facing pram. It is ideal for keeping an ear on your child, and makes them feel more secure having their parents around.
Some prams, such as the Graco Near2Me have a nifty raise and lower feature that can bring your baby close to your face with the push of the button, which our parent testers loved! This is a fantastic way to maintain eye contact with your baby and stay in touch, particularly when they're sleeping. If you're looking for a travel system compatible with the car capsule you select it is not necessary to wake your baby to switch between the pram shops near me and car.
Convenience
When buying a pram newborn it is important to consider your baby's needs for transport. Some prams have a bassinet, carrycot or seat that reclines to a flat position. This is crucial for your baby's development of the spine and breathing. It's important to check out the other accessories the pram has like the footmuff and changing bag which are essential to keep your baby warm in colder weather.
Some strollers and prams can be converted into travel systems. You can connect a car pod to the frame using adaptors, so you can move your baby from the car to the pushchair without waking them. These are useful if you have a busy schedule or don't have the sufficient space for prams, however it's important to keep in mind that your child will need to be old enough and able to sit up independently before you can change between the car capsule and pram.
Our parent tester discovered that the ability to raise or lower the seat of her 10-month-old son was a great feature. An excellent example is the Graco Near2Me, that can be adjusted to lower the seat, allowing your baby to glide' up to you with the push of the button, and remain in constant eye contact.
Make sure that your pram newborn, Going in Olderworkers, has a sturdy base with wheels that are able to handle potholes and bumps. Also, make sure you are able to fold it down with ease, and check that the safety harness you use is safe and fits comfortably (five-point instead of three-point) and is able to be adjusted as your child grows. It should be possible to store bags for shopping and changing underneath the pram (but remember that excessive weight could cause it to topple over). If you're unsure what to choose, try various models at the local store.
