WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item upgrader kit level by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through item upgrader kit upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which displays a preview of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an Item Level Upgrade is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and an issue.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade item system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even if they are part of another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade items their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It's Best item upgrade to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
