Buying a Pram Newborn
Parents and caregivers can count on prams and pushchairs travel systems to be multi-functional and versatile. They're the co-pilots of the journey of your child.
A pram for newborns is a special stroller designed for babies and newborns. It is a sturdy, deep carrycot and soft, safe walls.
A pram comes with a bassinet, but it can be converted into a stroller once the baby is ready.
Safety
Newborns are incredibly fragile and must be kept as secure as you can. Purchasing a stroller or pram with safety features will ensure that your baby is safe and safe during their travels. The essential requirements for any stroller or pram are to have a working brake, a five-point safety harness (2 shoulder straps, two waist straps and a Crotch strap) and the wrist tether strap that is for the person who is pushing the pram. Make sure that the pram you choose is in compliance with these requirements before you purchase.
Find a stroller that allows your baby to ride in the recommended lying flat position. This position helps your baby and avoids the risk of a dangerous spinal curve that could cause spinal problems. By keeping the airways open, it reduces the chance of SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Most prams are able to be used from the moment of the moment of birth. They have a seat unit which reclines into a lay-flat position for infants, and can be converted into a pushchair for older children.
The suspension of the double pram and pushchair will determine how smooth it is. A pram that has lots of spring suspension will be more expensive, but it is worth the extra cost when you intend to use your pram every day for a couple of years or longer.
Always read the instructions and look at the warning labels on your folding stroller or pram. It is also important to ensure that your stroller is placed in a safe spot free of bicycles, traffic or other hazards when it isn't being used. You should also remove any bags or other objects from the handles as they could cause your baby to become caught or suffocate.
A stroller or pram should never be left unattended with a child in it even if they're asleep. They can wriggle and become stuck or the pram might slide away and the baby could be injured. Hanging bags or other items from the handles is not a good thing because they could fall and strike your child on the head.
Comfort
Possibility of lying flat seating is a necessity for babies, because it helps improve lung and back development. Cocoons or carrycots are available on a variety of prams. They create a nest-like environment that is a comfortable place for your baby and can be detached easily from the frame. Other models, such as the egg2's bucket-style seat do not recline to lie flat, but offer a comfortable ride for your baby.
Some prams also have an extra bassinet, newborn inset or babiie stroller seat so you can easily switch between sitting and sleeping modes according to your baby's needs. This is sometimes described as a "travel system" and is the initial setup you should test out with your baby.
Look for a pram bag with two shoulder straps (ideally cushioned) and a functional five-point safety harness that fits your bub's body securely. Be sure to check for gaps, or loose places where fingers could get caught. Also, make sure that the buckles are simple for older children to operate. It's also worth considering whether you'd prefer a parent facing pram or not. It's perfect to watch your little one and helps them feel secure by the familiar sight of their parents.
Some prams, such as the Graco Near2Me, come with an awesome raise and lower function that can bring your baby up to your face at the touch of a button, which our parents testers loved! This is a great method of keeping eye contact with your baby, and stay in contact, particularly when they're sleepy. If you're looking to purchase a travel system, be sure that the frame's compatibility with your chosen car capsule and this will prevent you from having to wake them up when changing between pram, car and back.
Convenience
It is important to consider your baby's transportation needs when you purchase a new baby's pram. Some prams include the option of a carrycot or bassinet which allow your baby to lie flat (essential for their spinal development and breathing) while others come with seats that can recline into a flat position. It is important to check what other accessories are included in the pram, for instance a footmuff and changing bag. These are essential to keep your baby warm when it is cold.
Some strollers and prams can be converted to travel systems. You can connect a car pod to a frame with adaptors so that you can move your child from the car to the pram without waking them. These are useful if you have a busy schedule or don't have the large enough car boot to accommodate prams, however it's important to keep in mind that your child will need to be old enough and able to sit independently before you can switch them from car capsule to pram.
Our parent tester found that the ability to raise or lower the seat of her son who was 10 months old was a great feature. One example is the Graco Near2Me which allows your child to 'glide towards you at the push of an button.
