Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, commonly known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.
Players can recycle six items at once to get a gauge of each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be achieved through many different methods that include the use of upgrade components and also upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. In addition to this, many items can be reforged, which can boost their stats even more.
Upgradeable items can be found throughout the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The most common method of upgrading equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has slots to upgrade and some require a certain amount of upgrade. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses, while others offer an overall bonus.
There are a variety of upgrade elements in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be put in any equipment type and provide smaller bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools. They offer a variety of bonuses, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected stats are after the upgrade, along with any materials or components required. If you don't possess enough of either, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.
The number of upgrade components required for a given item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the upgrade level and rarity, but it can be reduced using a variety of methods, including purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them with other players.
Nearly all weapons can be upgraded by an upgrade to a prefix, such as an insignia or rune, and many are upgraded by suffix upgrades. These upgrades alter the name of the item to add an adjective, like 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the non-inscribable wands, the foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any kinds of mods.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a powerful instrument for communicating visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language and makes them more effective in transmitting the message of a language barrier. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.
Each glyph increases the value of a stat by specific amount. This is shown on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This range is not the actual amount at the glyph can increase the stat, but rather the maximum amount it is able to do so. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the product you are in awe of it.
Most upgrade item components inserted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without dismantling the equipment in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it hasn't been applied to gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
If you are looking to remove a glyph from a piece of, you will need to salvage it with an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item will be destroyed within which it is placed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards, therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.
When you take away an item after putting a glyph on it, the shards of the glyph will disappear. You can also add an inscription on your equipment to provide an additional benefit. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly rather than all at once. This is useful for players who suffer a lot damage from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes on their equipment and weapons, and can be found in a variety of ways, including in mistery boxes or as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with an affix randomly chosen and usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens are also a great option to reroll stats on weapons that can be upgraded for better damage or other perks.
Rerolled items are not listed on the menu for item upgrades, but they are still able to be upgraded. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button that alters the layout of the Best item upgrader window and allows up to six items to recycle. Recycling an item can add a small amount of points to its level gauge. This amount is determined by the item's rarity and its level, which means items with higher levels are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits for upgraded units. Rerolls will determine the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded, and if it is lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolls are a good option for upgrading an item, however, players must be aware that it will reduce the overall ilvl the weapon by the number of rerolls needed to increase the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This effect is most evident on Diadems and Rings, since they have no other options to increase the ilvl.
Players have complained that the reroll system is expensive. It's more fair to let people pay for it using money or food items that would allow players to make adjustments to their builds without spending too much time. The developers have no plans to implement paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. Instead, they plan to add an option to change the race in the future.
Leveling
There are many ways to boost the value of an item upgrade. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade, which increases the upgrade value of any stat. The alternative is to increase the impact of the upgrade, which boosts damage or healing for the stat. Additionally you have the option to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel, but will have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
When upgrading your items It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades are not guaranteed. Most of the time, a higher roll is based on the glyphs. However, there are times where a higher or more special roll may occur. The type of the item level upgrade will determine the iLevel. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on the iLevel it's built upon as well as the amount of upgrade levels. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests to reach the next upgrade level.
If you're fortunate the upgraded item will reach the maximum level on its upgrade track and gain an additional effect. This will result in a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.
The iLevel also changes in accordance with the item's upgrade path and its base level. For instance an item that has been upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary item will be able to be upgraded to the Enhanced Defense of the base type of item.
